Cleft children can be normal…
The entire team at Richardsons Dental and Craniofacial Hospital was happy to welcome the Indonasian family that had travelled all the way from Medan for the cleft lip surgery of their son, aged 3 months. Dr Richardson diagnosed him to have a wide unilateral left sided cleft lip, alveolus and palate. The mother had done extensive research on the best cleft and craniofacial centers in the world and finally decided to come here for treatment.

They arrived at Trivandrum Airport, ( which is only 68 kms from the hospital ) which is well connected the rest of the world and is in the state of Kerala ( Gods own country ). After staying in the hospital for two days, they could also do some sightseeing nearby. Kanyakumari, India’s southern most tip has great sunsets and sunrise views besides the beaches. Padmanabharpuram palace located just 15kms from the hospital was the headquarters of the erstwhile tranvancore kingdom and is today the largest wooden palace in India. They were delighted with the array of food provided in this part of the country. The hospitality of the place including the hospital also delighted them.

The healing of the baby after surgery was uneventful and he was feeding and doing his normal activities right after surgery. They were fit to go after six days of Hospital stay after the stitches were removed. We wish them all the best and hope to see them for the baby’s palate surgery after a few months.
