Speech Surgeries

Patients with cleft lip and palate have mal positioned soft palate muscles. The soft palate muscles with their pharyngeal counterparts form a seal in the throat to create sounds which help in normal phonation. Soft palate muscles in cleft palate patients need to be realigned to their normal anatomical position so that they can function normally. These surgeries are done under general anaesthesia and the patient stay in the hospital is generally between 48-72 hours.
