Cleft lip and palate is a common congenital deformity affecting around 1 in 700 children across the world. A cleft lip is characterized by a split in the lip while a cleft palate appears as a split in the roof of the mouth. Cleft lip and cleft palate treatment include surgery to close the gap or the hole between the roof of the mouth and nose, to reconnect palate muscles, and make the palate function effectively.
