Fixed Partial Dentures

Fixed Partial Dentures

FPD (Fixed Partial Dentures) is a dental appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth which gain its support and retention from the adjacent tooth and other supporting soft tissues. Dentists also recommend this procedure to fix broken and discolored tooth, decayed tooth and also in some space closures.

Fixed partial dentures are a cap like appliance that your dentist fixes on to the trimmed tooth structure. This resembles the tooth structure anatomically and are available in different materials:

  • Metal (metallic color).
  • Metal-ceramic(metallic inside with tooth-colored ceramic outer covering).
  • Full ceramic(tooth colored both inside and outside).
  • Zirconium (tooth colored with the anatomic resemblance to the tooth).

Among this the one with the best aesthetic and functional outcome is Zirconia.

Removable Partial Dentures

Here a patient walked into Richardsons dental and craniofacial hospital with a complaint of missing teeth in the upper front teeth region, which he lost in an accident. and since it is the front teeth he was very much worried about his aesthetic appearance.

The dentist at RDCH examined his mouth clinically and radiographically. His oral condition was apt to go for an FPD Crown and so we recorded an impression of this teeth. In a couple of days, he got his smile and confidence back.
