  • Open bite – no proper occlusion
  • Anterior Open bite affects speech and esthetics.
  • Posterior Open bite affects chewing

  • Abnormal Asymmetry of the face – deviated jaw
  • Deformity due to facial trauma

At Richardsons Dental and Craniofacial Hospital successful Jaw surgeries are performed by Dr. Sunil Richardson, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. We perform all surgeries under proper asepsis in our well-equipped operation theatres, following  rules governed by NABH.

With CBCT and OPG forms of radiographic examination exact site and amount of correction required are analyzed.

The physician performs jaw surgery under general anesthesia.

Since we perform surgeries by making an opening (incision) inside the oral cavity, there is no visible scarring.

In these surgeries, we move segments of bone along with teeth as a whole to the desired positions and secure the segments in place using screws and plates.

We use bone grafts in certain cases, wherein we take the grafts from the patient’s own hip or rib bones.

We implement orthognathic surgery on patients who have completed  99% of their whole growth. At the earliest for females above 16 years (usually a year after puberty) and for males above 18 years of age.

With proper post-surgical care, initial healing takes around 7 to 9 days. Complete healing takes around 3 months to 6 months depending on the age factor. It is important to follow post-operative instructions given by the surgeon and take antibiotics without fail to avoid postoperative infections and complications.

Jaw surgeries when performed by extremely well experienced surgeons is sure to be successful. We ( Richardsons Dental and Craniofacial Hospital ) have successful histories of pretty faces recreated.
