Lip revision for cleft lip deformity
Primary cleft lip repair surgery
Primary cleft lip repair is done when the baby is about 3 months old. However, after primary surgery, a lot of patients develop scarring of the region due to many reasons like the inherent nature of the patient’s skin and if it was a wide cleft closed under tension.
Secondary revision surgery
Here was a 35yr old man who came to our OPD at Richardsons Dental and Craniofacial Hospital with an unsightly scar on his upper lip which he developed after his cleft lip repair surgery when he was a baby. He was not aware that a lip once repaired could be revised again and make to look aesthetically pleasing.

He was assured that his lip scar would be revised and the surgery would carry no complications. The procedure was performed under local anesthesia by a team of specialist surgeons, Dr.Sunil Richardson assisted by Dr.Shreya Krishna. The surgery was completed in 30 mins and he was discharged the same night.
He is very pleased with his results. We have planned a mustache restoration in the same area to give him 100% results.
