PRP therapy for hair growth..
The most troublesome of all problems – hair fall and thinning of hair! Various methods are combined to treat these stubborn hair problems here at Richardsons Dental and Craniofacial Hospital. We use cyclical medical therapy which consists of the essential nutrients required for hair growth, we use the laser which stimulates hair growth and also use ‘PRP‘ injections. Hair transplantation is done for the last stage of hair loss.
PRP stands for platelet rich plasma and is a highly concentrated portion of platelets obtained by centrifuging the patient’s own blood. This liquid contains 3-5 times the normal concentration of platelets found in the blood. Since platelets are a rich source of growth factors and cytokines needed for healing and growth of various tissues, its injection into the scalp would stimulate the resting hair follicles to grow hair.
In all, the procedure takes 40 minutes including the time required to draw the blood and prepare the PRP. It is done under local anaesthesia and the patient is fit to go home immediately after the procedure. For good results, it is advised to undertake this treatment for a total of 4-6 times averaging one per month.
Since the concentrate is taken from the patient’s own blood, there are no side effects!
